As Denmark’s newly established diplomatic office in Rwanda, we are committed to strengthening the partnership between Rwanda and Denmark in key sectors such as climate and environment, asylum and migration, and governance, human rights, and citizen engagement.

About Us: The Project Office of Denmark in Kigali operates under the Embassy of Denmark in Kampala, Uganda. Our team is currently working on designing a strategic framework to enhance collaboration and foster sustainable development between Rwanda and Denmark.

Responsibilities: As a Programme Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing development cooperation and implementing results-based programmes. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying new and upcoming projects. Staying updated on relevant national and regional political developments, particularly within Denmark’s priority sectors, will be a key part of your portfolio.

Qualifications and Competences: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competences:

  • A Master’s degree or similar higher education in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience, with a strong focus on programme administration and management, including grant management.
  • Experience working for and/or interacting with bilateral development partners and/or international organizations, including multilaterals.
  • Familiarity with programme administration and management in a public or publicly funded organization. Experience working or having dialogue with the Government of Rwanda, especially the Ministry of Finance, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, communication, and networking skills. The ability to swiftly translate from Kinyarwanda to English and/or French would be an asset.
  • A motivated team player with the ability to work at a fast pace, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.

As Denmark’s new diplomatic office in Rwanda, we are dedicated to fostering strong partnerships and driving positive change in the country.

About Us: The Project Office of Denmark in Kigali operates under the Embassy of Denmark in Kampala, Uganda. We are currently developing a strategic framework to enhance the collaboration between Rwanda and Denmark, focusing on critical sectors such as climate and environment, asylum and migration, and governance, human rights, and citizen engagement.

Responsibilities: As our administrative assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our office operations. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, banks, and service providers.
  • Processing approved bills and invoices for payment.
  • Ensuring timely compliance with relevant statutory regulations, including those of the RRA.
  • Maintaining proper filing of all accounting records and documentation.
  • Preparing VAT and Duty-Free tax claims.
  • Assisting with imports, customs, and consular cases.
  • Participating in the planning, coordination, and logistics of events and visits, including managing related expenditures.
  • Preparing official correspondence with relevant government ministries, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with driving duties as needed.
  • Performing other relevant duties as required.

Qualifications and Competences: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competences:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years of similar working experience, ideally with a Diplomatic Mission or an International Organization.
  • A good understanding of the tax laws of Rwanda and their application to diplomatic missions and development partners.
  • Experience using MS Excel and Navision-based Accounting System would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude, open-mindedness, proactivity, and service-oriented mindset.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
  • Good analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
